    Description

    Up for bid is an interesting commemorative tie clip for the first US satellite TELSTAR, dated 1962, from W.M. Schwind.  The piece is 1 9/16 inches long by 7/8 inches wide in the center and weighs 11 grams.  The top has an applied medallion showing the satellite over the word “TELSTAR”.  The back has an alligator style clip.  It is marked “©1962 W.M. SCHWIND / DESIGN PAT. PENDING” and “STERLING” on the back.
    Condition on the piece is good.  There are a few faint spots and light wear.  A great piece of Space Age memorabilia!
